Brandwatch competitors: pricing and contract costs compared

The short answer

Brandwatch publishes no price at all, so its competitors can only be compared honestly in two groups. The quote-only enterprise group is Meltwater, Sprinklr, Talkwalker and Cision, and the only real figures available for them are aggregated contract data: Vendr records a median Brandwatch contract of $50,000 a year across 40 purchases, against $25,800 for Meltwater, $27,370 for Talkwalker, $12,625 for Cision and $127,490 for Sprinklr. The self-serve group does publish list prices, and it runs from Awario at EUR 29 a month through Mentionlytics at $49, Determ at EUR 99, Brand24 at $199 and YouScan at $499. One thing almost every shortlist gets wrong: Cision owns Brandwatch, so putting both on the same comparison means comparing two products from the same parent company.

Almost nobody searches for Brandwatch competitors out of curiosity. You are here because a quote landed, or is about to, and somebody upstairs wants to know what else is out there before you sign. That is a harder question than it should be, because the four vendors most often named alongside Brandwatch all refuse to publish a price.

So this page splits the field the only way that is honest. First the quote-only enterprise platforms, where the only defensible numbers are aggregated contract data from real purchases. Then the self-serve tools that print their prices on a page you can read without a sales call. The gap between those two groups is not small. The median Brandwatch contract is roughly the same as forty months of the most expensive self-serve plan in the second table.

Why it works

Three things to know before you compare

Two of the biggest names are one company

Cision acquired Brandwatch for $450 million, announced in February 2021 and closed on June 1, 2021, and Cision itself has been owned by Platinum Equity since a $2.7 billion take-private in January 2020. Cision also owns BuzzSumo. A shortlist with Brandwatch and Cision on it is a shortlist with one vendor on it twice.

Four of them will not tell you a price

Brandwatch, Meltwater, Sprinklr and Cision all publish zero dollar figures. Brandwatch has a page titled Pricing and Plans for Every Team that names no tier and lists no number. Sprinklr does not have a pricing page at all; sprinklr.com/pricing returns a 404. Any comparison article quoting a monthly price for these four is guessing.

The price spread is roughly 100 to 1

Aggregated contract data puts the median Sprinklr deal at $127,490 a year and the median Cision deal at $12,625, with Brandwatch at $50,000 in between. Meanwhile Awario lists at EUR 29 a month and Mentionlytics at $49. These products are not equivalent, but the gap is far wider than most shortlists assume.

The full field

Every Brandwatch competitor worth a shortlist slot, with what it actually costs

Brandwatch figures were read from brandwatch.com on September 9, 2026. Self-serve prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, verified between August and September 2026 and dated in the table. Contract medians come from Vendr, which aggregates real purchase data. Where a vendor publishes nothing, this page says so instead of estimating.

Start with Brandwatch itself, because the shape of its pricing sets the shape of the comparison.

brandwatch.com/pricing exists, which already makes it better behaved than Sprinklr, but it is a lead form rather than a price list. The page is titled Pricing and Plans for Every Team and says standard to enterprise plans are available for each of its solutions, then names none of them and attaches no figure to any. Every button on it is a demo request: See it in action, Schedule your free demo, Get a free demo, Request your Brandwatch demo. There is no free trial and no self-serve path.

What Brandwatch does publish is scale. It claims 1.7 trillion historical conversations going back to 2010 and 501 million new conversations added daily, with an AI assistant branded Iris. That archive is the genuine reason enterprise research teams pay for it, and it is the one thing no cheaper tool in this comparison replicates.

Because the price is private, the only honest number is contract data. Vendr records a median Brandwatch contract of $50,000 a year, based on 40 purchases, with a range from $19,542 to $81,200 and buyers negotiating about 15 percent off on average. Read that range carefully before you treat the median as your number: the top of it is more than four times the bottom.

Now the ownership map, because it changes who actually belongs on your list. Cision bought Brandwatch for $450 million, announced February 2021 and closed June 1, 2021, and Cision also owns BuzzSumo. Platinum Equity has owned Cision since January 2020. Hootsuite owns Talkwalker and now sells it as Lumen by Talkwalker. Meltwater has been private under Marlin Equity Partners and Altor since August 2023. Agorapulse bought Mention in 2025 for a reported EUR 25 million. Sprout Social and Sprinklr are the independent public companies in this field, trading as SPT and CXM. If your evaluation is partly about vendor risk, that map matters more than a feature grid.

One more thing worth knowing before the tables. Several of these vendors render their prices in JavaScript, which is why review directories publish figures that contradict each other and contradict the vendor. Mentionlytics cut every tier above its entry plan earlier this year and the major directories still show the old ladder. Treat any third-party price older than a few months as a lead to check, not a fact to budget against.

Who are Brandwatch's main competitors?

In the enterprise consumer-intelligence tier where Brandwatch actually sells, the direct competitors are Meltwater, Sprinklr, Talkwalker and Sprout Social's listening product, with Cision competing in the adjacent PR and media intelligence space. In the tier below, where most companies end up buying, the competitors are Brand24, YouScan, Mentionlytics, Determ, BrandMentions and Awario.

The distinction matters because the two tiers are not really bidding for the same deal. If your requirement is a multi-year archive and custom research support, only the first group qualifies. If your requirement is knowing what people are saying about your brand this week, the second group does it for a fraction of the price.

Is Cision a Brandwatch competitor?

Not in the ordinary sense, because Cision owns Brandwatch. Cision announced the $450 million acquisition in February 2021 and closed it on June 1, 2021, and Cision has itself been owned by Platinum Equity since January 2020. Cision also owns BuzzSumo.

They are still sold as separate products with separate contracts and separate prices, and Vendr's contract data shows a real gap between them: a median of $12,625 a year for Cision against $50,000 for Brandwatch. So you can genuinely choose one over the other. Just know that switching between them is not switching vendors.

How much does Brandwatch cost compared to its competitors?

Brandwatch does not publish a price, so the only comparable figure is contract data. Vendr puts the median Brandwatch contract at $50,000 a year across 40 purchases. That is roughly double the Meltwater median of $25,800, roughly double the Talkwalker median of $27,370, about four times the Cision median of $12,625, and well under the Sprinklr median of $127,490.

Against the self-serve field the gap is much larger. The most expensive published plan in this comparison is YouScan at $499 a month, which is about $5,988 a year, or roughly an eighth of the median Brandwatch deal.

Which Brandwatch competitor is the cheapest?

By list price it is Awario, which starts at EUR 29 a month billed annually, followed by Mentionlytics at $49 billed yearly. Both are genuinely inexpensive, and both come with a real limitation worth checking first: Awario publishes no refresh interval at any price, and Mentionlytics Basic collects every 12 hours.

Cheapest and best value are not the same test here. If you are buying monitoring for early warning, a plan that checks twice a day is not doing the job you bought it for, and the tier that fixes it is often several times the entry price.

Why do review sites publish different prices for these tools?

Because several of these vendors render their prices in JavaScript, so a scraper reading the raw HTML gets an empty price card and falls back to whatever it captured years ago. That is how a retired plan ladder survives on five major directories at once.

Mentionlytics is the clearest recent example: it cut every tier above its entry plan earlier in 2026, and the old ladder is still published on multiple review sites. The practical rule is to treat any third-party price as a lead to verify on the vendor's own page, especially if you are building a budget around it.

Do any Brandwatch competitors offer a free trial?

Several of the self-serve ones do. Brand24 offers 14 days with no credit card, Sprout Social and Agorapulse both offer 30 days, BrandMentions offers 7 days, and Determ offers 5 days with no card. Hootsuite offers 14 days.

None of the quote-only enterprise platforms do. Brandwatch, Meltwater, Sprinklr and Cision are all demo-first, which means the fastest of them still takes a scheduled call before you see the product with your own data in it. If evaluation speed matters to your timeline, that is a real difference and it is worth weighting.

What should I ask on a Brandwatch demo call?

Five things. What the annual figure is for the exact modules in the quote, since Brandwatch sells several solutions and the plan name does not tell you which. How much historical data is included, because the 1.7 trillion conversation archive is the main thing you are paying extra for and access to it is often tiered. How many seats the quote covers and what an extra seat costs. What the renewal price looks like in year two. And whether alerting on your specific sources is included or an upgrade.

Bring a competing published price to that call. Vendr's data shows Brandwatch buyers negotiate about 15 percent off on average, and a number you can point at is what moves that conversation.

Do I need an enterprise platform at all?

Usually only if your job depends on the archive or on custom research support. The honest test is what you will do with the data. If the answer is quarterly consumer research, trend discovery across years of conversation, or panels and segmentation work, you need the enterprise tier and the price follows.

If the answer is knowing when your brand is mentioned, in what tone, how that compares to your competitors, and getting told fast when something starts spreading, that is a much smaller product. Most teams that buy a $50,000 platform for the second job end up using a fraction of it, and the seat and module count is where the money went.

Good questions

Questions about brandwatch competitors

It replaces the monitoring half, not the research half, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. Brandwatch sells a 1.7 trillion conversation archive going back to 2010 with custom research support on top, and EyeOut does not have that. If your work depends on multi-year historical analysis, buy the enterprise platform. What EyeOut covers is the job most teams are actually doing with these tools: watching web, news, X, Reddit, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, forums, podcasts and review sites in one view, reading sentiment and theme on every mention, tracking share of voice against named competitors, and raising a graded alert the moment a spike starts. That is $59 a month billed yearly with seats included and no sales call, against a median Brandwatch contract of $50,000 a year.
Because those vendors publish no prices, and inventing one would make this page useless at exactly the moment it matters. Brandwatch, Meltwater, Sprinklr and Cision all route every pricing question to a demo. The only defensible numbers available are aggregated from real purchases, which is why the first table cites Vendr medians, ranges and sample sizes rather than a tidy monthly figure. Sample size is shown for a reason: the Talkwalker figure rests on only three unique purchasers, so treat it as directional rather than a benchmark. Any article that shows you a clean monthly price for Sprinklr is quoting an old reseller listing or estimating.
Brandwatch was read on September 9, 2026, and Hootsuite and Agorapulse were re-verified the same day. Sprout Social and BrandMentions were verified on September 6, 2026, Mentionlytics and YouScan on September 5, Awario and Brand24 on September 4, Sprinklr and Muck Rack on September 2, and Meltwater and Cision on September 1. Contract medians come from Vendr and are re-checked on the same cycle. This category moves faster than most: Mentionlytics cut its entire ladder above the entry plan earlier this year and Sprout Social restructured its pricing page in September without changing a single price, so a figure that is six months old is not reliable.
