Short answer: Neither Pulsar nor Brandwatch publishes a price. pulsarplatform.com/pricing returns a 404, and brandwatch.com/pricing redirects to a "Pricing & Plans for Every Team" page where every button is a demo form. The only real contract data belongs to Brandwatch: Vendr's record of 40 purchases puts the median at $50,000 a year, with a range from $19,542 to $81,200. Pulsar has no public contract data. Pick Brandwatch for keyword research across a very large historical archive, Pulsar for audience and narrative analysis. If the job is alerts when your brand is mentioned, you need neither.

Pulsar's own Pulsar vs Brandwatch page, its product pages, Brandwatch's plans page and both Vendr buyer guides were read in October 2026. Every figure below is named with its source.

So there is no honest way to put two list prices side by side. What you can do is understand what each quote is built from and make the two vendors quote the same brief.

How much does Brandwatch cost?

Brandwatch prints no number. Its plans page says "standard to enterprise plans" are available for each solution and sends every visitor to a three-step demo form. The useful outside figure is Vendr's buyer guide, updated February 2026: across 40 purchases the median Brandwatch contract is $50,000 a year, the lowest recorded is $19,542 and the highest is $81,200, and buyers negotiated about 15 percent off on average.

Pulsar's own comparison page describes Brandwatch pricing as "low four figures per month" and flags that Brandwatch has not confirmed it. That squares with Vendr: $50,000 a year is about $4,170 a month. A single-brand team on Consumer Intelligence should land toward the bottom of the range. Several brands, several markets and the Social Media Management solution together push you toward the top. Our Brandwatch pricing breakdown goes through what moves the number.

How much does Pulsar cost?

Pulsar does not say, and there is no contract benchmark. Its comparison page lists its own pricing as "Enterprise plans, contact for pricing". Software directories print scattered figures, including one that prices CORE by mention volume, which does not fit Pulsar's own description of CORE as analytics for the accounts you manage. Treat any single number you find as a question for the demo, not a budget line.

What drives a Pulsar quote is visible on its product pages. TRAC, the listening and monitoring module, covers social networks plus online news, print, TV, radio, podcasts, forums and blogs, with regional sources such as Weibo and VK. Narratives AI clusters the stories inside a conversation. Crisis Oracle scores reputational risk. CLEAR is an AI agent over your data. Each one you add, and each broadcast or print source you switch on, raises the price. Our Pulsar platform pricing guide lists every module and what to ask about it.

Is Pulsar cheaper than Brandwatch?

Nobody can show it with data. Brandwatch has a $50,000 median across 40 recorded purchases; Pulsar has no recorded purchases in any public dataset. Both sell custom annual contracts, and the scope you take (modules, sources, history, users) moves the price more than the brand does. The only way to know is to send both the same written brief and compare itemized quotes.

What is the difference between Pulsar and Brandwatch?

They answer different questions. Brandwatch is built for keyword-led research over a very large archive: it says it holds 1.7 trillion conversations going back to 2010, and its Iris AI surfaces trends, scores sentiment and recognizes images and logos. Pulsar is built around audiences. It maps which communities take part in a conversation and, with Narratives AI, which stories are growing inside it.

Pulsar's own page is a fair summary even though Pulsar wrote it. It credits Brandwatch with historical scale and image recognition, and says Pulsar has no native publishing, inbox or community management. Brandwatch, by contrast, sells a full Social Media Management solution (the former Falcon.io) next to its listening product.

Which is better, Pulsar or Brandwatch?

For an insights or research team running large keyword studies, Brandwatch is the safer pick: more historical data, more analysts who already know it, and more review volume to judge it by (G2 shows Brandwatch Consumer Intelligence at 4.4 against Pulsar at 4.3, on far more reviews). For a strategy or comms team that needs to understand which audiences are driving a conversation and where a story is heading, Pulsar is the more distinctive tool. Ratings are close, so the use case decides it.

How to get comparable quotes from both

  • Write one brief. List brands, competitors, markets, languages, sources (name the networks and whether you need print or broadcast), months of history and number of users. Send it to both.
  • Ask for an itemized quote. One line per module or solution, so you can see what listening alone costs and drop what you will not use.
  • Ask about sister-brand bundles. A Pulsar renewal can come with Vuelio or Isentia; a Brandwatch one with Cision or PR Newswire. Get each part priced separately before you accept a bundle.
  • Fix the currency. Pulsar's parent is listed in London. Ask for US dollar billing for the whole term.
  • Cap the renewal. Ask for the notice period and a written ceiling on the renewal increase. Pulsar's own page claims Brandwatch prices rose after the Cision deal, which is a reason to get this in writing with either vendor.

If the evaluation is turning into a formal vendor selection, it helps to run it the way procurement would: one brief, the same scoring sheet and a fixed deadline for both.

When you need neither

Both platforms are research tools. Many teams that ask for a Pulsar or Brandwatch quote actually want something smaller: to know within the hour when a news site, a Reddit thread, a forum or a podcast mentions the brand, with the tone, and to see share of voice against two or three competitors. That job does not need a five-figure contract.

EyeOut does exactly that part. It collects Google News, Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts every 30 minutes, scores sentiment and theme on every mention, tracks share of voice, and raises a crisis alert from the Growth plan when a keyword's volume or tone breaks from its baseline. Plans are $39, $94, $249 and $499 a month billed yearly, or $79 to $998 billed monthly, with seats included. It does not license Facebook, Instagram or X data, does not do audience segmentation or image recognition, and has no publishing, so it replaces the monitoring part of these contracts, not the research part. See it next to the rest of the market in the social listening pricing comparison, or read how the crisis monitoring alerts work.

And if what you really want to watch is not the conversation but the competitors themselves, their pricing pages, site changes and new ads, that is a different tool: a competitor tracking platform that monitors prices and website changes covers it better than either listening suite.
