Short answer: Neither Onclusive nor Meltwater publishes a price. Meltwater's pricing page names four plans (Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency) and every one says "Contact Sales". Onclusive has no pricing page at all. The only real contract data belongs to Meltwater: Vendr's record of 126 purchases puts the median at $25,800 a year, with a range from $5,375 to $56,993. Onclusive has no public contract data. Choose Meltwater if social listening and media relations sit with one team, and Onclusive if print, broadcast and managed reporting matter more. If you only need brand mention alerts, you need neither.

Meltwater's pricing page, Onclusive's homepage, Onclusive Social page and onclusive.com/pricing were read in October 2026. Meltwater contract figures are from Vendr's Meltwater buyer guide. Every other figure is named with its source.

That table is the honest version of a side-by-side price list. The rest of this article is about how to turn two "talk to sales" buttons into two quotes you can actually compare.

How much does Meltwater cost?

Meltwater does not print a number, but it does say what moves one. Its pricing FAQ lists the breadth of sources and regions you monitor, the volume of data and workflows, the number of users, integrations, onboarding and support, and contract terms. Each of the four plans lets you pick capabilities: Media Intelligence, Social Listening, AI Visibility Tracking and Media Relations on all four, with Influencer Marketing added on Enterprise and Agency. API and MCP integrations and governance controls are listed on Enterprise and Agency only.

The useful outside figure is Vendr's. Across 126 purchases, the median Meltwater contract is $25,800 a year. The low end of the recorded range is $5,375 and the high end is $56,993, and buyers negotiated about 15 percent off on average. A small team taking one capability on Starter should land in the lower part of that range. A regional team on Pro with social listening and media relations together should expect to be near or above the median. Our full Meltwater pricing breakdown covers what pushes a quote up.

How much does Onclusive cost?

Onclusive does not say, and there is less outside data than for Meltwater. Its pricing URL returns a 404, the product pages end in "Book a Demo", "Arrange a Demo" or "Let's Chat", and Vendr has no Onclusive guide. So any single Onclusive number you read is a guess.

The one public anchor is for the social product. Onclusive bought Digimind in July 2022 and now sells it as Onclusive Social; a software directory lists Digimind Social from about EUR 15,000 a year, priced on either monthly mention volume or yearly query count. That is a floor for one module, in euros, not a quote for the whole platform. Our page on Digimind pricing and what Onclusive Social costs sets out what that module includes and which directory figures are stale.

What Onclusive does publish is the size of its data. The homepage claims 3 million plus online sources, 70,000 plus print outlets, 6,000 plus broadcast channels and 25 plus social platforms. Its social product promises 24 months of history, unlimited searches and zero setup.

Is Onclusive cheaper than Meltwater?

Nobody can say from public data, because only Meltwater has a contract benchmark. What you can say is where each one is likely to be cheaper for a given scope. Meltwater sells capabilities inside a plan, so a team that needs news monitoring plus social listening plus a journalist database gets all three from one contract, which often beats buying three modules separately. Onclusive sells products, so a team that only wants managed media monitoring and press reviews can leave social out, and its print and broadcast coverage may be included where Meltwater would treat it as wider scope.

The way to find out is to send both vendors the same written brief: the same sources, regions, users and term. Ask each for a quote itemized by module. Then compare line by line, not total against total.

Which is better for media monitoring, Onclusive or Meltwater?

For print and broadcast, Onclusive has the larger published footprint, and owning Critical Mention gives it a dedicated US broadcast product (see Critical Mention pricing if TV and radio are your main need). For a US team that wants news monitoring, social listening and a journalist database in one login, Meltwater is the more complete single purchase. For pure online news and forum monitoring, both are larger than the job.

The practical test is three searches: your brand, your main competitor, and one past story you know well. Ask each vendor to show what it found, how quickly, and from which sources. Coverage you can see beats a feature grid.

Who owns Onclusive and who owns Meltwater?

Onclusive was assembled by Symphony Technology Group in January 2022 from Kantar's former reputation intelligence business, PRgloo and the original Onclusive. It then bought Digimind and Critical Mention in 2022. A quote can therefore bundle three histories under one name, and the sales team will try to sell more than one of them.

Meltwater was founded in 2001 and taken private in 2023 by Marlin Equity Partners and Altor. It sells one platform with selectable capabilities rather than a family of acquired brands. If you are comparing Onclusive with Cision as well, our Onclusive vs Cision pricing article covers that pairing.

How to get a fair quote from either vendor

  • Write one brief and send it to both. Same sources, regions, languages, users and term. Different briefs produce quotes you cannot compare.
  • Ask for line items. Per module, per seat and per source type (online, print, broadcast, social). A bundle hides the part you would drop.
  • Fix the currency. Onclusive has strong European roots and the Digimind directory figure is in euros. Ask for US dollar billing for the whole term.
  • Cap the renewal. Ask for a written ceiling on the year-two increase and a renewal notice period you can live with. Have procurement run the comparison through a proper vendor sourcing workflow so both bids sit against the same requirements.
  • Use the benchmark. Meltwater buyers averaged about 15 percent off. Open there, and use the Meltwater quote as leverage with Onclusive, since Onclusive has no public benchmark of its own.

Does Meltwater have a free trial?

No. Meltwater's pricing page sends every plan to "Contact Sales" and the main call to action is "Request a demo". If hands-on testing matters, ask whether a short pilot is possible and get its scope, sources and end date in writing before you start.

Does Onclusive have a free trial?

No trial is advertised. Every product page ends in a demo request. One software directory lists a free trial for Digimind Social, so it is worth asking for a time-limited pilot on your own brand terms, but plan your evaluation around a guided demo.

When you need neither

Many teams that shortlist Onclusive and Meltwater only use the monitoring feed: alerts when the brand, the CEO or a product shows up in the news or on Reddit, plus a weekly read on sentiment. A five-figure annual contract is a lot to pay for that.

EyeOut does that part on a published price. It collects Google News, Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts every 30 minutes, scores every mention for sentiment and theme, and flags spikes with a crisis radar from Growth. Plans start at $39 a month billed yearly ($79 monthly) for 3 keywords and one seat, and Growth is $94 a month billed yearly with 10 keywords, three seats and share of voice against competitors. It does not license Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn data, does not cover print or broadcast, and has no journalist database, so it replaces the monitoring part of these contracts, not the whole thing. The social listening pricing comparison puts it next to every vendor that publishes a price.

Frequently asked questions

Is Onclusive the same as Meltwater?

No. They are separate, competing companies with different owners. Onclusive is owned by Symphony Technology Group and includes the former Digimind and Critical Mention. Meltwater is owned by Marlin Equity Partners and Altor. Both sell media monitoring, social listening, media databases and analytics on annual quotes.

Which is more expensive, Onclusive or Meltwater?

There is no public data to compare them on. Meltwater's median contract is $25,800 a year across 126 purchases per Vendr; Onclusive has no equivalent. The scope you buy decides the price far more than the brand does, so compare itemized quotes for the same brief.

What are the alternatives to Onclusive and Meltwater?

For the full suite, Cision and Muck Rack are the usual third and fourth quotes. For enterprise social listening, Brandwatch and Talkwalker. For brand monitoring on a published monthly price, Brand24, Awario and EyeOut. Our Meltwater alternative page sorts them by job.
