Short answer: Determ pricing is four plans billed in euros: Focus at EUR 99 a month for 1 topic and 1,000 mentions, Expand at EUR 299 for 5 topics and 5,000 mentions, Command at EUR 499 for 10 topics and 10,000 mentions, and a quoted Custom plan. Every plan has unlimited users, unlimited keywords, real-time alerts and the same sources. Paying yearly costs ten months instead of twelve (EUR 990, EUR 2,990 and EUR 4,990). The catch most listings miss: on Expand and Command, the monthly price comes with a yearly commitment, and the API is on Custom only.

Determ pricing at a glance
| Focus | Expand | Command | Custom | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | EUR 99 | EUR 299 | EUR 499 | Quote |
| Monthly billing terms | Billed monthly | Billed monthly, yearly commitment | Billed monthly, yearly commitment | By contract |
| Paid yearly | EUR 990 | EUR 2,990 | EUR 4,990 | Quote |
| Topics | 1 | 5 | 10 | Custom |
| Mentions per month | 1,000 | 5,000 | 10,000 | Custom |
| Keywords and users | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Scheduled reports, newsletter, AVE | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Custom dashboards, public share links | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Dedicated customer success manager | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| API, MCP, BigQuery, Power BI | No | No | No | Yes |
The yearly toggle on the page reads "2 months off", and the numbers match it exactly: EUR 990 is ten times EUR 99, and the same holds on Expand and Command. That is a 17% saving, smaller than the 40% some budget tools use to push annual billing, and it is the only discount Determ publishes.
Why the price is in euros, and what that means for a US budget
Determ is a Croatian company based in Zagreb. It traded as Mediatoolkit until a 2023 rebrand, which is why some review directories still file it under the old name. Its pricing page shows a euro sign on every card and offers no dollar toggle. Read every figure on this page, and on any listing that copies them, as euros.
For a US buyer that has two practical effects. The euro has traded above the dollar for most of the past decade, so EUR 99 bills a US card for more than $99, and the gap widens at EUR 4,990 a year. Your card issuer will usually add a foreign transaction fee of 1 to 3% unless the card waives it. Determ's FAQ says it accepts bank transfers, major credit cards and PayPal, and offers monthly, quarterly and annual billing, so if your finance team prefers a fixed number, annual billing locks the euro amount once a year.
What each Determ plan actually buys
Focus, EUR 99 a month
Focus is one topic with 1,000 mentions a month. A topic is the subject you track, such as your brand, and keywords define it, so you can add every product name and misspelling under one topic without paying more. What you cannot do is track a competitor, because that needs a second topic. Every source is on: news from what Determ counts as 100 million websites, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Reddit, Bluesky, Medium, blogs, comments and forums, with print, TV and radio where regionally available. So are real-time alerts, spike alerts on volume and sentiment, Slack and Microsoft Teams, and the Synthia AI summaries. The limit that bites is the mention cap. A brand with any real presence on social can pass 1,000 mentions in a busy week.
Expand, EUR 299 a month
Expand is the first plan built for a team that watches competitors: 5 topics and 5,000 mentions, so your brand plus up to four rivals or campaigns. It switches on scheduled reports, the email newsletter, media reports built from selected mentions and the AVE widget, which a PR team will want for client or board reporting. It is also where the commitment changes. The page lists Expand's monthly price as "billed monthly, yearly commitment", which means a twelve-month contract paid in monthly installments rather than a plan you can drop after one month.
Command, EUR 499 a month
Command doubles Expand's topics and mentions (10 and 10,000) and adds custom dashboards, branded templates, public dashboard links, tailored product training and a dedicated customer success manager. It carries the same yearly commitment on monthly billing. It still has no API.
Custom, quoted
Custom is the only plan with the API, an MCP connection, BigQuery and Power BI exports, board-ready executive summaries, narrative analysis and quarterly business reviews. If your plan is to pipe Determ data into a warehouse or a BI dashboard, Custom is your entry price, whatever your topic count.
Five things the Determ pricing page tells you if you read the small print
1. Mentions run out before topics do. Topics and keywords are generous; mentions are not. 1,000 a month is roughly 33 a day across every source combined. If your brand name is also a common word, broad keywords will burn that allowance on noise, so budget time for Boolean exclusions, which every plan includes.
2. The trial is five days. Determ offers a full-feature 5-day trial with no credit card. Its FAQ says an extended 14-day trial is available after a personalized demo. Five days is short for judging coverage, so set up your real keywords on day one.
3. History is three months by default. The FAQ states you can access up to three months of past data, with an archive back to 2020 unlocked on request. If you need a year-over-year comparison for a report, ask what the archive costs before you sign.
4. Unlimited users is real, and it matters. Every Determ plan includes unlimited users. Compared with suites that charge $99 to $399 per seat, that is the strongest part of Determ's pricing for a PR team that wants the agency, the founder and the support lead all logged in.
5. The yearly commitment starts at Expand. Focus is the only plan you can pay month to month without a twelve-month term. Read the order form for notice periods and auto-renewal before you upgrade, because a mid-year move from Focus to Expand starts a new commitment.
Determ against other monitoring tools with published prices
| Tool | Entry price | Entry limits | Users at entry | Commitment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Determ Focus | EUR 99/mo | 1 topic, 1,000 mentions | Unlimited | Monthly |
| Awario Starter | EUR 29/mo billed yearly, EUR 49 monthly | 3 topics, 30,000 mentions | 1 | Monthly or yearly |
| Brand24 Individual | $199/mo billed yearly, $249 monthly | 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions, updates every 12 hours | 1 | Monthly or yearly |
| BrandMentions Starter | $79/mo billed yearly | 5 keywords, 5,000 mentions, daily updates | 1 | Yearly or quarterly |
| EyeOut Starter | $39/mo billed yearly, $79 monthly | 3 keywords, 5,000 mentions, collected every 30 minutes | 1 | Monthly or yearly |
Determ's entry plan is not the cheapest, but it is the only one in that table with unlimited users and real-time updates stated on its lowest tier, and the only one that lists print, TV and radio at all. If you are weighing it against the euro-priced option at the other end of the budget range, the Awario pricing breakdown uses the same tier-by-tier method, and the BrandMentions pricing page covers the cheapest dollar-priced alternative with daily updates. Who Determ is right for
Determ fits a PR or communications team that reports coverage to someone else: a client, a board, a ministry. The features that sit on Expand and up (scheduled reports, newsletters, AVE, media reports) are reporting features, and its site organizes its use cases around PR, marketing, agencies, politics and government, and NGOs. Print, TV and radio are listed as regionally available, so a US buyer should ask which American markets and outlets that covers before counting on it. A crisis team in government or politics will also sometimes need to know who is behind a coordinated campaign rather than just how loud it is; that is an investigation job, closer to open source intelligence software than to a monitoring feed, and no plan on this page does it.
It fits less well for a US company whose main need is alerts on its own name and a few competitors. Five topics at EUR 299 a month on a yearly commitment is EUR 3,588 a year (EUR 2,990 if paid upfront) for monitoring that cheaper tools deliver on monthly terms, and the mention caps are tighter than most US-priced tools at a similar spend.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Determ cost?
Determ costs EUR 99 a month on Focus, EUR 299 on Expand and EUR 499 on Command, or EUR 990, EUR 2,990 and EUR 4,990 paid yearly. A Custom plan above Command is quoted. Plans differ in topics (1, 5, 10) and monthly mentions (1,000, 5,000, 10,000); users and keywords are unlimited on all of them.
Does Determ have a free trial?
Yes, a full-feature 5-day trial with no credit card required. After a personalized demo, Determ offers an extended 14-day trial configured around your goals and markets. There is no permanently free plan.
Is Determ priced in dollars or euros?
Euros. The pricing page shows a euro sign on every plan and has no currency switch. A US card is charged the dollar equivalent at the day's rate, plus any foreign transaction fee your card issuer applies.
Can I cancel Determ monthly?
On Focus, yes: it is billed monthly with no commitment shown. On Expand and Command, the monthly price is listed as "billed monthly, yearly commitment", so you are signing a twelve-month term paid in monthly installments.
Which Determ plan includes the API?
Only Custom. The feature table marks the API, MCP, BigQuery and Power BI as unavailable on Focus, Expand and Command. If you need Determ data in your own systems, budget for a custom quote.
Is Determ the same as Mediatoolkit?
Yes. Mediatoolkit, the Zagreb media monitoring company, renamed itself Determ in 2023. Listings that still say Mediatoolkit describe the same product, though prices quoted under the old name are out of date.
How to decide
Buy Determ Focus if one brand needs every source including broadcast, a whole team needs a login, and 1,000 mentions a month is enough. Buy Expand if you report coverage to clients or a board and can commit for a year. Buy Custom only if the API or a BI connection is the reason you are buying.
If what you actually need is to hear about a problem while it is small, on monthly terms in dollars, EyeOut is built for that job. It collects every 30 minutes on every plan across Google News, Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts, starts at $39 a month billed yearly with 5,000 mentions, and from Growth at $94 adds three tracked competitors, share of voice and a crisis radar that flags a keyword jumping above its own 7-day average. It does not cover print, TV, radio, X or Instagram, so it will not replace Determ for a broadcast-heavy PR team. For a brand that mainly needs alerts on itself and its rivals, the media monitoring tool page shows what it watches, and you can add your brand and start the same afternoon.
