Short answer: Agorapulse is cheaper per seat at every tier. It lists $79, $119 and $149 per user a month on annual billing, against Hootsuite's $99, $199 and $399. Social listening is where the two split. Hootsuite includes a light version of its listening tool on every self-serve plan but keeps alerts and long history for Enterprise. Agorapulse sells Advanced Listening as a separate add-on with no published price. If listening and alerts are the main reason you are buying, neither suite's entry price covers it.
Both pricing pages were read on October 7, 2026: agorapulse.com/pricing and hootsuite.com/plans, including Hootsuite's plan FAQ. Prices are per user per month on annual billing unless stated otherwise. Neither the Agorapulse Advanced Listening add-on nor Hootsuite Enterprise has a published price, and this article does not invent one.
Agorapulse vs Hootsuite pricing side by side
| Agorapulse | Hootsuite | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan | Standard, $79 per user ($99 month to month) | Standard, $99 per user |
| Middle plan | Professional, $119 ($149 monthly) | Professional, $199 |
| Top self-serve plan | Advanced, $149 ($199 monthly) | Advanced, $399 |
| Enterprise | Custom, tailored pricing | Enterprise, contact for pricing |
| Social profiles | 10 on Standard, Professional and Advanced; extra profiles $10 a month each on annual billing | 10 on Standard, unlimited from Professional |
| Social listening | Advanced Listening add-on, book a demo | Basic listening on every plan, deeper from Professional, alerts on Enterprise |
| Free trial | 30 days, no credit card | 14 days, no credit card |
| Owns | Mention, the listening tool | Talkwalker, the listening platform |
Both suites are built for the same job: scheduling posts, working one social inbox and reporting on owned accounts. Both companies have also bought a listening business, which is why the comparison gets confusing as soon as someone asks about monitoring. Agorapulse owns Mention. Hootsuite owns Talkwalker and sells its engine as Lumen. Neither puts the full listening product into the plans you can buy with a card.
What a team of one, three or five pays
Seat pricing makes the gap grow with headcount. Here is the annual cost on each vendor's published annual rate, before any add-on.
| Team size | Agorapulse Standard | Agorapulse Professional | Hootsuite Standard | Hootsuite Professional |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $948 | $1,428 | $1,188 | $2,388 |
| 3 people | $2,844 | $4,284 | $3,564 | $7,164 |
| 5 people | $4,740 | $7,140 | $5,940 | $11,940 |
At the top self-serve tier the difference is wider still. Five people on Agorapulse Advanced cost $8,940 a year, and five on Hootsuite Advanced cost $23,940. Hootsuite's Advanced plan adds approvals, message routing and team reporting rather than more listening, so the extra $200 a seat buys workflow, not monitoring.
One cost Agorapulse adds that Hootsuite does not: once you pass 10 social profiles on any self-serve plan, each extra profile is $10 a month on annual billing or $15 month to month. An agency running 30 client profiles on Agorapulse Professional pays for 20 extra profiles on top of its seats. Hootsuite Professional removes the profile cap instead. For the full Hootsuite ladder and its monthly-billing detail, see our Hootsuite pricing breakdown; the Agorapulse side is in our Agorapulse pricing guide.
Does Hootsuite have social listening?
Yes, at three levels. Standard includes basic brand and competitor monitoring. Professional adds 30 days of Quick Search, side-by-side comparison of up to five searches, export of listening results and trend forecasting up to 90 days ahead. Hootsuite's own FAQ then says Enterprise goes "beyond the listening included in self-serve plans" with 13 months of historical data, advanced data sources, alerts, scheduled reports, brand review monitoring and advanced listening powered by Lumen.
The detail that matters for most buyers is the word alerts. On Standard, Professional and Advanced you can search conversations, but the feature that tells you when something is happening sits on the quote-only Enterprise plan. We walk through every listening limit per plan on our Hootsuite social listening page.
Does Agorapulse have social listening?
Not in the plan price. Agorapulse lists Advanced Listening under "powerful add-ons" on its pricing page, describes it as tracking conversations about your brand "across millions of social accounts, news platforms, blogs, and forums" with filters for language, location, sentiment and source, and routes it to "Book a demo". No figure is published. Inside the base plans you get sentiment detection on inbox messages and comments, which tells you the tone of replies to your own posts, not what people say about you elsewhere.
Agorapulse also owns Mention, and Mention now points its own customers to Agorapulse for publishing. If you are weighing that route, our Mention vs Awario comparison covers what Mention's Company plan costs and includes.
Is Agorapulse cheaper than Hootsuite?
Yes, on every published tier. Agorapulse Standard is $20 a seat cheaper than Hootsuite Standard, Professional is $80 cheaper, and Advanced is $250 cheaper per user per month on annual billing. Agorapulse also gives a 30-day trial against Hootsuite's 14.
The exception is profile count. A small team managing many profiles can find Hootsuite Professional's unlimited profiles cheaper than Agorapulse plus extra-profile fees. Run your own profile and seat count through both price lists before deciding.
Is Agorapulse better than Hootsuite?
For a team whose day is spent in the inbox and the publishing calendar, Agorapulse is the better value. It costs less per seat, its Advanced plan bundles labels, saved replies, automated moderation and competitor benchmarking at $149, and its trial is twice as long.
Hootsuite is the better choice when listening has to live inside the same tool and the budget can stretch to Enterprise, because that is the only place its alerts, review monitoring and 13 months of history appear. Hootsuite also bundles Wisdom AI on every plan and sells employee advocacy on Enterprise. If your team also produces short video for TikTok and Reels, both suites schedule it; the bottleneck is usually making it, and a tool that can turn a blog post or script into a finished video saves more hours than either scheduler.
What is better than Hootsuite for brand monitoring?
If the job is publishing, Agorapulse or Sprout Social. We compare those two on seats and add-ons in Agorapulse vs Sprout Social pricing. If the job is knowing when your brand is being talked about, a publishing suite is the wrong shape for the money, because both of these keep monitoring alerts behind a demo.
A dedicated monitoring tool costs less than one extra seat on either suite. EyeOut, for example, watches Google News, Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts every 30 minutes, reads sentiment on every mention, and sells Growth at $94 a month billed yearly with three seats, share of voice against three competitors, Slack alerts and a crisis radar. Pro at $249 adds unlimited competitors, severity scoring, the API and ten seats. EyeOut does not monitor X, Instagram, TikTok or review sites, so it complements a publishing suite rather than replacing its inbox.
Which one should you buy?
| If your main job is | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Publishing and inbox for a small team on a budget | Agorapulse | Lower seat price at every tier and a 30-day trial |
| Managing many social profiles with few people | Hootsuite Professional | Unlimited profiles with no per-profile fee |
| Listening with alerts inside the publishing suite | Hootsuite Enterprise | Alerts, review monitoring and 13 months of history are Enterprise features |
| Approval workflows for a larger team | Agorapulse Advanced | Labels, moderation rules and shared calendars at $149 against $399 |
| Fast alerts when news, Reddit or forum mentions turn negative | A monitoring tool next to either suite | Both keep alerting behind a demo or an add-on |
The cleanest setup for many US teams is the cheaper suite for publishing plus a separately priced monitoring tool for alerts. Five Agorapulse Standard seats and EyeOut Growth together cost $5,868 a year, which is less than five Hootsuite Standard seats alone, and the alerting runs every half hour from day one. If you are already leaving Hootsuite, our Hootsuite alternative page lists the options with published prices.
