Synthesio pricing: Ipsos Synthesio cost, plans and alternatives
The short answer
Synthesio has no public price. Ipsos, the Paris market research group, bought Synthesio in October 2018 for more than $50 million and renamed it Ipsos Synthesio in March 2023. Its website has no pricing page (synthesio.com/pricing returns a 404) and every route ends in a demo or a contact form. Synthesio sells three ways: a self-service platform license, the platform plus Ipsos analysts, and a two-month On-Demand Activation with no long-term subscription. Each is quoted individually, and no purchase-data benchmark for Synthesio is public.
Search for Synthesio pricing and you get review directories. One of them lists a starting price of $0.01 per user per year with a free trial, which is a placeholder, not a price anyone pays. None of them says who sells the product today or how the contract is structured.
The seller is Ipsos. Synthesio was an independent social listening company, founded in 2006, until Ipsos bought it in 2018; since March 2023 it has traded as Ipsos Synthesio and positions itself as AI-enabled consumer intelligence rather than monitoring. This page covers what that means for your budget: the three ways Synthesio is sold, what each includes according to Synthesio's own product pages, why there is no honest dollar figure to quote, and how to split the purchase so you do not pay research prices for a monitoring job.

Why it works
Three things to know before you budget for Synthesio
You are buying from Ipsos
Synthesio has been part of Ipsos since late 2018 and has used the Ipsos Synthesio name since March 2023. The site is titled "An Ipsos Company" and its footer links to ipsos.com. Contracts, services and research support come from one of the largest market research groups in the world, and the pricing reflects that.
There is no pricing page at all
synthesio.com/pricing returns a 404. The only pricing touchpoint is a contact form option that reads "Learn which plan is right for your team". No plan names with prices, no per-seat figure, no mention allowance. Every quote is built by sales after a conversation about your topics, markets and data sources.
The service layer is where the cost moves
Synthesio sells the same platform three ways: a self-service license, the license plus Ipsos analysts, or a two-month activation run by their team. The analyst hours and custom reports are what separate a modest contract from a large one, so decide how much of the work you want done for you before asking for a number.

- A published price at every tier: $59, $149 and $399 a month billed yearly, with no sales call and no quote cycle
- Monthly billing on every plan ($79, $189 and $499), so there is no long contract to sign before you know it works
- Real-time collection on every plan, with a crisis radar that grades a spike against each source baseline from Growth
- Web, news, X, Reddit, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and review sites in one feed, plus forums and podcasts from Growth
- AI sentiment and theme on every mention, share of voice against named competitors from Growth
- Seats included in the plan price: 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth, 10 on Pro

The full picture
How Synthesio is sold, what each option includes, and why nobody can quote you a number
Synthesio's homepage, About page, product pages and contact page were requested directly and read in September 2026, along with the Ipsos announcements of the acquisition and the rebrand. Where no price is published, this page says so rather than estimating one.
Start with what is missing. synthesio.com/pricing returns an HTTP 404, and so does every guess at a plans URL. Synthesio does not print a price, a tier name with a price, a seat price or a mention allowance anywhere on its site. The contact page offers four routes (request a demo, learn which plan is right for your team, get onboarding help, anything else) and all of them are forms. That is a normal way for an enterprise research vendor to sell, but it means the number you will pay depends entirely on scope and negotiation.
The ownership history explains the sales model. Ipsos announced on October 30, 2018 that it had bought Synthesio for more than $50 million in cash, describing it as a social media intelligence company founded in 2006 with offices in New York, Paris, London, Singapore and Brussels and about 130 staff. On March 16, 2023, Ipsos announced that Synthesio had become Ipsos Synthesio. The current site calls the product AI-enabled consumer intelligence and leads with trend and innovation research, audience analysis and brand and product insight. Reputation monitoring is one of four use cases, not the headline.
Synthesio's own pages describe three ways to buy. DIY Platform Access is a software license to the social and search intelligence platform, with always-on real-time sourcing, dashboards, regular reports, 24/7 social media monitoring with real-time alerts and access to its generative AI tool, Signals GenAI. Platform Access plus Service adds advanced sourcing and set-up by Synthesio's experts, customized reports and direct access to Ipsos insights consultants. On-Demand Activation is aimed at teams that do not want a long-term subscription: Synthesio's team applies Signals GenAI to your topic for two months and delivers expert-led reporting.
The data behind it is broad. Synthesio cites more than 800 million social sources including Chinese data, search data from 10 or more search platforms, more than 2,000 ecommerce and review sources, and image recognition for visual content. It also ingests client-owned data such as survey responses. Signals GenAI ships with more than 40 prebuilt insight prompts. Those are the capabilities an insights team pays for, and they are the reason a Synthesio contract is priced like research rather than like a monitoring tool.
For an actual number, there is less public evidence than for most vendors in this market. Vendr, which publishes negotiated purchase data for Meltwater, Brandwatch, Cision and others, has no Synthesio buyer guide. Review directories either show nothing or show placeholder figures. The honest position is that Synthesio is quote only and priced in the enterprise research band, alongside Brandwatch Consumer Intelligence and Talkwalker, and the only way to get a real figure is a scoped quote.
That makes the scoping conversation the lever. Many teams use a research platform for two different jobs: quarterly insight work, which is what Synthesio is built for, and daily alerting on the brand name, products and competitors, which is the cheapest capability in this market. If the monitoring job is carried by the research contract, you are paying analyst-grade prices for alerts. Splitting the two usually shrinks the research scope and makes the Synthesio quote easier to defend internally.

How much does Synthesio cost?
Synthesio does not publish a cost. It has no pricing page, and every plan is quoted by Ipsos sales after a scoping conversation covering your topics, markets, data sources, users and how much analyst support you want.
There is also no public purchase benchmark: Vendr has no Synthesio buyer guide. Budget for it as an enterprise research platform in the same band as Brandwatch Consumer Intelligence and Talkwalker, and get a written, itemized quote before comparing.
Who owns Synthesio?
Ipsos owns Synthesio. Ipsos announced the acquisition on October 30, 2018, paying more than $50 million in cash, and on March 16, 2023 the company was renamed Ipsos Synthesio.
Ipsos is a listed market research group, so Synthesio is sold as part of a research relationship. Expect analysts, consultancy and custom reports to be offered alongside the software, and priced into the contract if you accept them.
Does Synthesio have a free trial?
Synthesio's website does not offer a free trial. Every call to action is Get a demo or a contact form, including one labeled "Learn which plan is right for your team".
The closest thing to a short commitment is On-Demand Activation, which runs Signals GenAI on one topic for two months without a long-term subscription. It is a paid engagement, not a trial, so ask for its price and scope in writing.
What is Synthesio Signals GenAI?
Signals GenAI is Synthesio's generative AI tool for turning social, search and review data into written insights. Synthesio says it ships with more than 40 prebuilt insight prompts and returns an answer in about 60 seconds.
It is included in DIY Platform Access and is the engine behind the two-month On-Demand Activation. Synthesio does not publish a separate price for it.
Is Synthesio a social listening tool or a research platform?
Both, but it now sells itself as research. Synthesio started as a social listening company and still offers real-time monitoring and alerts, but its site leads with consumer intelligence: trends, audiences and product insight, backed by Ipsos analysts.
That matters for price. If your team mainly needs alerts on brand and competitor mentions, you would be buying a research contract to do a monitoring job.
What is a good Synthesio alternative for brand monitoring?
It depends which job you are replacing. For consumer research with large datasets and analyst support, the realistic alternatives are Brandwatch Consumer Intelligence, Talkwalker and Meltwater, all quote only.
If the job is day-to-day brand monitoring, meaning alerts when your brand, products or competitors are mentioned, scored for sentiment, a self-serve platform with a published price covers it. EyeOut starts at $59 a month billed yearly, with real-time collection on every plan.
What should I ask Ipsos before signing a Synthesio contract?
Ask for the quote itemized three ways: platform license, analyst or consultancy hours, and any data sources priced separately such as Chinese social data or search data. A single bundled figure hides where the money goes.
Then ask for the contract length, the renewal notice period, the number of seats included and the price of one more, and whether the service hours roll over if you do not use them.
