Listening & monitoring · No per-seat pricing
Monitoring tool with no per-seat pricing: social listening with unlimited users and seats included
The short answer
A monitoring tool with no per-seat pricing charges one flat price for the whole team instead of billing per user, so adding a colleague costs nothing. In this category the split is clean. The social suites bill per seat per month (Hootsuite $99 to $399, Sprout Social $79 to $399, Agorapulse $79 to $149) and treat listening as a paid add-on on top of that seat price. Flat-rate monitoring tools meter keywords and mentions instead of people. For a five-person team the gap is roughly $11,940 a year on Hootsuite Professional against $1,788 on EyeOut Growth, which includes seats on every plan.
Per-seat pricing is the quiet line item that decides what a monitoring purchase really costs. The price you compared was one seat. The price you pay is that number multiplied by everyone who needs to look, and in monitoring that is rarely just the social media manager.
EyeOut bills a flat monthly price with seats included on every plan, from $59 a month billed yearly. Add your founder, your support lead, your PR contact and your agency, and the invoice does not move. Real-time collection is on every tier too, so nobody is choosing between coverage and headcount.
This page shows the published per-seat rates for the tools most often on the same shortlist, the arithmetic for a five-person team, and an honest note on where per-seat billing is still the better buy.

Why it works
Three things per-seat billing hides until the quote arrives
The multiplier is people, not usage
A seat price looks small next to a flat plan until you count who needs a login. Monitoring is read by more people than it is operated by: a founder during a launch, a support lead when complaints cluster, a PR contact when a story runs. Each of those is a full seat at list price.
Listening is usually still extra
Sprout Social states that Listening is an individual add-on available to its $199 Standard plan and up, and does not publish the add-on price. Agorapulse gates Advanced Listening behind a demo. On Hootsuite, the Lumen plan table shows alerts as unavailable on Standard, Professional and Advanced, and available only on custom-priced Enterprise.
Rationed access defeats the purpose
When every login is a line item, access gets rationed to the people who post daily. The people who most need an early warning, and who would act on it fastest, are the ones without a seat. That is how a monitoring tool ends up detecting a problem nobody sees for six hours.
What it handles
Watched, read and flagged in real time
EyeOut watches every channel for your brand, scores each mention for sentiment and emotion, rolls it up into share of voice and a daily digest, and alerts you the second a real spike begins.
- One flat monthly price with seats included on every plan
- Adding a colleague, an executive or your agency costs nothing extra
- Real-time collection on every tier, not reserved for the top plan
- Metered on keywords and mentions, which you control, not on headcount
- Web, news, X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, forums, podcasts and review sites in one view
- Published price you can budget from $59 a month billed yearly, no sales call

The arithmetic
What per-seat monitoring actually costs a team, using each vendor published rates
Per-seat rates were read from each vendor own pricing page during August 2026 and Awario was re-checked on September 4, 2026. Every annual figure below is the vendor published monthly rate multiplied out, not an estimate or a quote.
There are two billing models in brand monitoring and they are rarely compared directly, because they are usually sold by different kinds of company. The social media suites grew out of publishing, where a seat is a person who posts, so per-seat billing made sense. Monitoring inherited that model without inheriting the logic, because the value of a monitoring tool is highest when the people who need to know are already looking at it.
The dedicated monitoring tools meter something else entirely: tracked keywords, tracked mentions, topics or saved alerts. Those meters have their own traps, and a plan with three keywords will force you to choose between watching your brand, your main product and your closest competitor. But they are meters you control, and they do not go up when you hire.
The reason this matters more than the headline price is that the shortlist is usually built by one person who then has to get budget for a team. A $199 seat is an easy internal sell. Five of them is $11,940 a year, which is a different conversation with a different approver, and it is the conversation that kills most monitoring purchases at the last step.
One more thing worth knowing before the tables: on two of the three per-seat suites, the seat price does not include listening at all. Sprout Social states plainly that Listening is an individual add-on available to the Standard plan and up, and publishes no price for it. Agorapulse routes Advanced Listening to a demo. So the multiplication below is the floor, not the total, on those two.
Published billing model and per-seat rate, verified from each vendor own pricing page
| Vendor | Billing model | Published rate | What the meter is | Is listening included? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EyeOut | Flat, seats included | $59 / $149 / $399 per month billed yearly | Tracked keywords (3 / 10 / 30) | Yes, on every plan, real time |
| Hootsuite | Per user per month | $99 Standard, $199 Professional, $399 Advanced | Users and social accounts | Partly. Its Lumen plan table shows alerts on Enterprise only |
| Sprout Social | Per seat per month | $79 Essentials, $199 Standard, $299 Professional, $399 Advanced | Seats and social profiles | No. An unpriced add-on to Standard and up |
| Agorapulse | Per user per month | $79 Standard, $119 Professional, $149 Advanced (billed annually) | Users and social profiles | No. Advanced Listening is a demo-gated add-on |
| Awario | Flat, but seats are capped per tier | EUR 29 Starter, EUR 89 Pro, EUR 249 Enterprise | Topics and stored mentions | Yes, but 1 team member on Starter |
| Brand24 | Flat, not per seat | $199 Individual, $299 Team, $399 Pro, $599 Business | Keywords and tracked mentions | Yes, but real-time collection starts at $399 |
| Mentionlytics | Flat, not per seat | From $49 per month | Keywords and mentions | Yes, continuous collection from $299 |
| Meltwater, Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Cision | Quote only | No published price at any tier | Negotiated per contract | Scoped into the quote |
What five people cost per year: each vendor published monthly rate multiplied out
| Plan | Monthly for 5 people | Annual for 5 people | What you still do not get |
|---|---|---|---|
| EyeOut Growth (flat, seats included) | $149 | $1,788 | Nothing seat-related. 10 tracked keywords is the meter |
| Awario Pro (EUR 89, covers 10 members) | EUR 89 | EUR 1,068 | No refresh interval published anywhere, and it bills in euros |
| Brand24 Team (flat) | $299 | $3,588 | Hourly collection, not real time. Real time starts at $399 |
| Agorapulse Advanced ($149 per user) | $745 | $8,940 | Advanced Listening is still a demo-gated add-on |
| Hootsuite Standard ($99 per user) | $495 | $5,940 | No listening alerts, and Quick Search is capped at 7 days |
| Hootsuite Professional ($199 per user) | $995 | $11,940 | Still no listening alerts. Its plan table puts those on Enterprise |
| Sprout Social Standard ($199 per seat) | $995 | $11,940 | Listening itself, which is an unpriced add-on on top |
| Sprout Social Professional ($299 per seat) | $1,495 | $17,940 | Listening itself, which is an unpriced add-on on top |
Which monitoring tools have no per-seat pricing?
EyeOut, Brand24 and Mentionlytics all bill a flat monthly price rather than charging per user, and meter tracked keywords or mentions instead. Awario is flat too, but caps team members by tier at 1, 10 and unlimited. The per-seat model in this category belongs mainly to the social media suites: Hootsuite, Sprout Social and Agorapulse all bill per user per month.
Which social listening tools include unlimited users?
EyeOut includes seats on every plan, so any number of colleagues can have access at the same flat price, from $59 a month billed yearly. Awario includes unlimited team members on its Enterprise tier at EUR 249 a month, with Starter limited to one member and Pro to ten. Brand24 and Mentionlytics are flat-priced rather than per-seat, so team access is not the thing that raises your bill.
How much does Hootsuite cost for 5 users?
Hootsuite publishes $99, $199 and $399 per user per month billed annually for Standard, Professional and Advanced. Five users therefore costs $495, $995 or $1,995 a month, which is $5,940, $11,940 or $23,940 a year. Worth knowing before you budget: Hootsuite own Lumen listening table shows alerts, historical data, scheduled reports and benchmarking as unavailable on all three of those tiers and available only on custom-priced Enterprise.
Does Sprout Social charge extra for social listening?
Yes. Sprout Social states that Premium Analytics and Listening are each available as individual add-ons to the Standard plan and up, and it does not publish a price for either add-on. So the seat price of $199 to $399 per seat per month is the cost of the platform before listening, not including it. If listening is the reason you are buying, the advertised seat price is not your price.
Why do social listening tools charge per seat at all?
Because most of them grew out of social media publishing, where a seat genuinely maps to a person doing work: composing posts, replying, running approvals. Monitoring does not work that way. Its value comes from the right person seeing the right alert quickly, and that person is often not on the social team at all, which is why per-seat billing and monitoring fit together badly.
When is per-seat pricing actually the better deal?
When you have one or two users and you genuinely need the publishing suite around the monitoring. A single Agorapulse Standard seat at $79 a month bundles scheduling, an inbox and approvals that a dedicated monitoring tool does not offer at all, EyeOut included. The per-seat model only becomes expensive when the number of people who need to look grows faster than the number of people who need to post.
How do I compare flat and per-seat pricing fairly?
Count the people who need a login, not the people who will operate the tool, then multiply the seat price by that number and add any listening add-on the vendor has not priced. Compare that annual total against the flat plan whose keyword or mention meter fits your actual volume. Do the comparison in annual figures, because that is the number your approver sees.
Does EyeOut limit how many people can see an alert?
No. Seats are included on every plan, so the whole team can be in the same dashboard and receive the same graded crisis alerts. What scales between plans is tracked keywords, 3 on Starter, 10 on Growth and 30 on Pro, so you pay for how much of the conversation you watch rather than for how many people are allowed to watch it.
