Short answer. Keyhole no longer publishes a price, and its plans link sends buyers to a Muck Rack demo. Social Listening is a Muck Rack add-on with no published rate. Vendr's roughly $13,000 annual Muck Rack median is a budget reference for Muck Rack contracts generally, not a Keyhole quote. Directory figures of $79 or CA$179 per user per month describe the earlier self-serve product and cannot currently be bought from keyhole.co.
Sources include keyhole.co, muckrack.com/pricing and Vendr, read in October 2026. Historical context comes from the August 2024 Internet Archive copy and Muck Rack's acquisition announcement. Directory figures are third-party listings, not current vendor offers.
Keyhole pricing at a glance
| Buying detail | Then, before the acquisition | Now, October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Self-serve plans existed, but the archived page does not preserve their prices | No price on Keyhole pages or Muck Rack's pricing page |
| Trial | August 2024 archive shows a trial button | No trial advertised, demo only |
| How you buy | Self-serve site with a Plans link | Keyhole pricing links redirect to a Muck Rack demo request |
| Owner | Keyhole before Muck Rack's acquisition | Muck Rack, deal closed August 31, 2024 |
| Listening packaging | Social Listening listed as a Keyhole product | Social Listening listed as a Muck Rack add-on |
The useful distinction is between a product description and a purchasable plan. Keyhole still describes capabilities, but those pages no longer provide a checkout price or a public subscription offer.
How much does Keyhole cost in 2026?
Keyhole has no published price in 2026. Every pricing link on keyhole.co ends at a Muck Rack demo request, and Social Listening is sold as a Muck Rack add-on on a custom quote. The closest public benchmark is Vendr's Muck Rack median of about $13,000 a year, which covers Muck Rack contracts in general, not Keyhole on its own.
The redirect is specific. keyhole.co/plans/ returns a 302 to /contact-us, which returns a 301 to muckrack.com/demo-request/muck-rack-social-listening-keyhole. The /pricing/ path reaches the same destination. Searching for another Keyhole pricing URL does not reveal a public plan.
Muck Rack lists Starter as basic access, Standard as most popular and Premier as most flexible, with a Brands/Agencies toggle. None has a price. Its FAQ says pricing depends on factors specific to your team, including the number of users. Social Listening sits alongside Print and Broadcast Monitoring, Press Release Distribution, Muck Rack API, Media Intelligence and Generative Pulse as an add-on.
Vendr's guide, updated in February 2026, reports about $13,000 a year at the median and a range of $8,000 to $20,860 across 80 purchases. These are private SaaS purchase records, not public procurement data. They do not establish which contracts include Keyhole. Use our Muck Rack pricing breakdown to separate the base platform from the listening request.
Why do directories still show a Keyhole price?
Directories still show a Keyhole price because their listings were written for the old self-serve product. The $79 per user per month on thecmo.com and the CA$179 per user per month on Capterra are third-party figures, and neither one can be bought from keyhole.co today.
Thecmo.com also lists a 7-day trial. G2 says the vendor has not provided pricing. These listings disagree with each other, and none supplies a current purchase route matching its figure on keyhole.co.
The August 2024 Internet Archive copy of keyhole.co/pricing shows a self-serve site with a trial button and a Plans link. It lists Social Media Analytics, Social Listening, Publishing and Historical Insights. The prices were loaded by script and are absent from the archive, so it cannot verify an old dollar amount. A directory starting price is not evidence of today's quote.
What changed when Muck Rack bought Keyhole
Muck Rack's first acquisition closed August 31, 2024 and was announced September 3, 2024. The companies had partnered since 2023. Muck Rack said Keyhole would continue as a standalone product while its listening was folded into Muck Rack, covering Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook.
Today, the Keyhole homepage says "Keyhole's Social Listening is available on Muck Rack" and offers "BOOK A DEMO" and "EXPLORE MUCK RACK" buttons. It still describes Social Listening, Social Media Analytics and Historical Insights, including Twitter historical data. Those descriptions do not confirm that an old subscription, login or feature package remains available on the same terms.
For a returning customer, the question is whether the new offer preserves the work your team did. Compare Muck Rack competitors by the work they replace, then request a demonstration using your campaign terms rather than accepting a general product tour.
Does Keyhole have a free trial?
No. Neither keyhole.co nor Muck Rack's pricing page advertises a trial today, and both route buyers to a demo. The August 2024 archive shows Keyhole used to offer a self-serve trial, so the trial mentioned on review sites belongs to the old product, not the current offer.
Ask whether you can test your own searches before signing and what that evaluation includes. A demo is not hands-on access, and the old trial button does not promise access today. Brand24, by comparison, advertises a 14-day trial.
What to ask Muck Rack before you sign
Request an itemized quote and written answers tied to your actual workflow. These questions help distinguish access to listening from a replacement for your previous Keyhole setup.
- Is Social Listening priced per user, and what base plan must we purchase with it?
- Which networks are included, and what data can we retrieve from each?
- How much historical data is included, and is Twitter historical data priced separately?
- What limits apply to hashtag tracking, campaign searches and the posts included in reports?
- What are the renewal terms, cancellation requirements and rules for price changes?
- Will standalone Keyhole logins continue, and how will existing searches and reports transfer?
For hashtag or influencer campaigns, ask to see the report you need to deliver. Teams that used Keyhole mostly to measure creator campaigns may get more from a micro-influencer marketing platform if it tracks the posts they need per creator. Our hashtag tracking tool guide helps separate campaign measurement from general brand listening.
Keyhole alternatives with published prices
These published entry prices do not all buy equivalent listening. Monthly figures below use annual billing, and an entry social management plan can still require a separate listening purchase.
| Tool | Entry price | Social networks at entry | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand24 Individual | $199/month, 1 user | Facebook, Instagram, X and Reddit, plus news and blogs | Listening with published source tiers |
| Hootsuite Standard | $99/user/month | Check network coverage separately; listening alerts and historical search require Enterprise | Buyers evaluating social management separately from listening |
| Sprout Social Standard | $199/seat/month | Listening coverage requires an unpriced add-on | Teams budgeting for management plus a separate listening quote |
| Mentionlytics Basic | $49/month limited-time offer, $69 list | Confirm included networks before buying | Buyers comparing a lower published entry price |
| EyeOut Starter | $39/month, 1 seat | Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News and Lemmy, plus Google News and Apple Podcasts; no Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook or YouTube | Brand mention alerts across news, forums and podcasts |
Check the tier that covers your campaign
Brand24 Individual refreshes every 12 hours. Team costs $299 a month, includes unlimited users, refreshes hourly and adds LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok. Pro costs $399 with real-time updates and reviews; Business costs $599 with podcasts. For Instagram and TikTok hashtag campaigns, Brand24 Team or Talkwalker is the closer replacement to evaluate than EyeOut.
Hootsuite Professional is $199 and Advanced $399 per user per month annually, but listening alerts and historical search remain Enterprise features. Mentionlytics Essential is $169 and Advanced $299 a month billed yearly. Compare actual listening access in our social listening pricing comparison.
Quote-only alternatives
Talkwalker, owned by Hootsuite, publishes no price. Brandwatch, owned by Cision, is also quote only; Vendr reports a $50,000 median across 40 purchases. Neither supplies a public entry price to compare directly with the table. Our Muck Rack alternative overview explains where a narrower monitoring purchase fits.
When you need neither
If the job is brand mention alerts across news, Reddit, forums and podcasts, EyeOut fits that narrower need. It checks Google News, Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts every 30 minutes. It does not cover Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook or YouTube and does no hashtag campaign analytics.
Starter, Growth, Pro and Enterprise cost $39, $94, $249 and $499 a month billed yearly, with 1, 3, 10 and 25 seats included. Monthly billing is $79, $189, $499 and $998 respectively. Crisis radar and share of voice start with Growth; API access starts with Pro. See EyeOut plans and billing options for that scope.
Is Keyhole worth it?
Keyhole is worth it if you already buy Muck Rack, or plan to, and want social listening in the same contract as your media database. As a standalone purchase it is harder to justify, because you can no longer see a price, start a trial or buy it without a sales call.
Bring a real campaign to the demo, ask for listening as a separate line item and compare the closest published-price option. Choose a narrower monitoring tool when campaign analytics and the major social networks are outside your brief.
