Short answer: Sprout Social prices by the seat and Talkwalker prices by the data. Sprout publishes $79, $199, $299 and $399 per seat a month on annual billing, but social listening is a separate add-on from Standard up with no published price. Talkwalker publishes no price at all: its Core, Analyze and Business tiers are quoted after a demo, and every tier includes unlimited users. So Sprout is the cheaper door for a small team that mostly publishes, and Talkwalker is the stronger listening product for a team that mostly listens.
Sprout Social prices were read from the structured pricing data on sproutsocial.com/pricing on October 6, 2026. Talkwalker's tiers were read from talkwalker.com/pricing the same day. Neither the Sprout Listening add-on nor any Talkwalker tier has a published price, and this article does not invent one.
Sprout Social vs Talkwalker pricing side by side

The table makes the two look like rivals, and they mostly are not. Sprout Social is a social media management suite that sells listening as an extra. Talkwalker is a listening and media intelligence platform that leaves publishing to its parent, Hootsuite. Teams end up comparing them when one budget has to cover both jobs, and the right answer depends on which job is bigger.
What a team actually pays on Sprout Social
Sprout is easy to model up to the point where listening enters. On annual billing, three seats on Standard cost $7,164 a year and three on Professional cost $10,764. Five Professional seats are $17,940. Standard connects five social profiles; Professional and Advanced connect an unlimited number. Essentials at $79 is a separate small-team plan and does not take the Listening add-on at all.
Then the number stops. Sprout's own page says "Premium Analytics and Listening are each available as individual add-ons to the Standard plan and up" and routes both to "Schedule a demo." You will see a monthly figure for Listening on comparison sites, but it is not on any Sprout page, so treat it as a rumor until a quote says otherwise. We cover what Sprout says about the add-on, and the questions to ask before the call, in our Sprout Social listening pricing breakdown.
The practical consequence: a Sprout budget for a listening buyer has two unknowns, the add-on price and the number of seats sales will recommend. Get both in writing before you compare.
What a team actually pays on Talkwalker
Talkwalker tells you more about its tiers than about its prices. Core is the always-on product: social listening and media monitoring, topic and channel analytics, custom dashboards, reports and alerts, plus Wisdom (peak detection, forecasting and AI summaries), an AI Agent you can question in plain English, LLM Insights for how AI assistants describe your brand, and pre-built IQ Apps dashboards. Analyze, labeled most popular, doubles the non-sampled results volume and adds 25 topics, filters and channels. Business gives six times the Core volume, three times the topics, additional historical data, and more workspaces with governance.
Every tier includes unlimited users, onboarding, training and regular strategy reviews, and the page cites 150 million data sources, 30+ social platforms, 187 languages and 196 countries. Nothing on the page is priced. Contract data does not help much either: Vendr has only three recorded Talkwalker purchases, which is too thin to quote as a market rate.
So the variable to understand before the demo is volume. Write down your brand terms, competitors and campaign hashtags, and ask how many non-sampled results they produce in a typical month. That number picks the tier, and the tier sets the price.
Which is cheaper for a team of three, five or ten?
| Team size | Sprout Social Professional, seats only | Talkwalker |
|---|---|---|
| 3 people | $10,764 a year, plus the Listening add-on | One quote, users unlimited |
| 5 people | $17,940 a year, plus the Listening add-on | Same quote if volume is unchanged |
| 10 people | $35,880 a year, plus the Listening add-on | Same quote if volume is unchanged |
The shape matters more than the figures. Sprout's cost climbs with every person you add, so it rewards a small, focused team. Talkwalker's cost climbs with data, so it rewards a large team watching a modest number of topics. If your comms, social, product marketing and support leads all want to log in, Talkwalker's unlimited users can close what looks like a big gap on paper.
Is Sprout Social good for social listening?
It is good enough for a social team that wants listening next to publishing in one login, and it is weaker than a dedicated listening platform for anything beyond that. Sprout's listening is designed to sit beside its publishing and inbox tools, while Talkwalker's pricing page claims 150 million sources in 187 languages, and Hootsuite's listening page adds 172 TV networks for the same engine. If listening is a feature you want occasionally, Sprout is the simpler buy. If it is the main reason for the purchase, compare it against a listening platform first.
Does Talkwalker do publishing like Sprout Social?
No. Talkwalker does not schedule posts or run a shared inbox. Its parent, Hootsuite, does, and Hootsuite sells a lighter version of the same engine inside its own plans, with alerts and long history kept for Hootsuite Enterprise. A team that wants both jobs from the Talkwalker side usually ends up with a Hootsuite contract too, which we compare in our Hootsuite social listening breakdown.
Engagement is its own cost line on either side. Hearing about a spike of angry comments is a listening job; working through hundreds of them is a staffing job, and some brands hand the second part to content moderation services rather than adding seats.
Which one should you buy?
- Buy Sprout Social if publishing, the inbox and reporting are most of the work, the team is under about five people, and listening is a nice-to-have you can add later.
- Buy Talkwalker if listening and media monitoring are the job, coverage across languages and countries matters, and many people need access. Our Brandwatch vs Talkwalker comparison covers the other enterprise option on that shortlist.
- Buy neither yet if the actual requirement is narrower: knowing quickly when your brand is mentioned in the news, on Reddit or in forums, and whether the tone is turning.
A cheaper option when the job is monitoring
A lot of Sprout vs Talkwalker searches start with a simpler need than either product is built for. Someone wants an alert before a negative story or thread spreads, plus a weekly read on sentiment and share of voice against two or three competitors. That does not need a publishing suite or an enterprise listening contract.
EyeOut is built for exactly that. It watches Google News, Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts every 30 minutes, scores every mention for sentiment, and from Growth up runs a crisis radar that flags when a keyword's last 24 hours break from its own 7-day average. Plans are published: $39, $94, $249 and $499 a month billed yearly, with 1, 3, 10 and 25 seats included rather than billed per head. Enterprise adds API access and imports the past 12 months of mentions for every keyword.
It is honest about the gaps. EyeOut does not cover X, Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, does not publish posts, and keeps no multi-year archive. If those are requirements, Sprout or Talkwalker is the right purchase. If they are not, see how EyeOut compares as a Talkwalker alternative or a Sprout Social alternative.
Questions to ask both vendors before you sign
Ask Sprout Social: the Listening add-on price for your seat count, how many listening topics it includes, how far back a new topic searches, and whether the add-on price rises with seats at renewal.
Ask Talkwalker: the non-sampled results volume your queries need and which tier that lands in, how much history each tier includes, whether LLM Insights channels are capped on Core, and what the year-two price is.
Ask both for the full annual number in writing, including onboarding. A comparison built on one published seat price and one unpublished quote is not a comparison until both sides are on paper.
