Short answer: Meltwater and Sprinklr are both quote-only, and neither publishes a price. Meltwater is the cheaper purchase by a wide margin: Vendr puts the median Meltwater contract at $25,800 a year across 126 signed deals. Sprinklr's median is $127,490 a year, about five times higher, across a much thinner sample of 20 purchases. The gap is not about listening quality. Meltwater sells media and social intelligence to PR and comms teams; Sprinklr sells a customer experience platform, contact center included, with listening as one suite inside it. If all you need is brand monitoring, neither contract is the efficient buy.
Plan structure and contract terms were read from meltwater.com/en/pricing and sprinklr.com in September 2026. sprinklr.com/pricing returns a 404. Contract figures are Vendr private SaaS purchase data, not vendor price lists or public procurement records.

How much does Sprinklr cost compared to Meltwater?
Sprinklr typically costs about five times as much as Meltwater. Vendr's median Sprinklr contract is $127,490 a year, against $25,800 for Meltwater. The ranges barely overlap: Vendr's published Sprinklr range starts near $28,800, already above the Meltwater median, while the top of the Meltwater range, about $56,993, sits below half the Sprinklr median.
Read the sample sizes before you lean on either number. The Meltwater figure rests on 126 purchases and is about as solid as purchase data gets in this category. The Sprinklr figure rests on 20 purchases by 15 buyers, and those contracts span everything from one listening module to a full customer experience rollout with a contact center. It tells you the neighborhood, not your quote.
Why is Sprinklr so much more expensive than Meltwater?
Because you are buying a different kind of platform. Meltwater grew out of media monitoring and still sells mainly to communications and PR teams: news and social coverage, media contacts, reporting and, more recently, tracking how AI answers describe your brand. Sprinklr started in social media management and expanded into customer service, marketing and research, then sold the whole set as one customer experience platform to large enterprises.
That shows up in the cost drivers. Vendr lists Sprinklr's as named users, modules selected, channel and message volume, and contract length. Meltwater's own FAQ lists breadth of sources and regions, data volume, users, integrations, onboarding and contract terms. A Sprinklr deal is priced like enterprise software that runs your support desk. A Meltwater deal is priced like a comms team's research budget. See our full Sprinklr social listening pricing breakdown for the module map, and the Meltwater pricing guide for how its four plans are assembled.
Is Sprinklr better than Meltwater for social listening?
For listening on its own, the two are closer than the price gap suggests. Sprinklr says its listening module monitors more than 30 social and digital channels in real time with AI it describes as powered by patented capabilities, and it was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Social Media Management and Listening. Meltwater pairs social listening with the news monitoring it was built on and adds consumer research through the Linkfluence Radarly team it acquired in 2021.
The real difference is what sits around the listening. In Sprinklr, a negative post can route straight into a care agent's queue in the same platform. In Meltwater, the same post lands in a comms team's dashboard next to press coverage and journalist contacts. Pick the one whose surrounding workflow matches the team that will open it every morning.
Meltwater vs Sprinklr: which should you buy?
Buy Meltwater if your team is PR or corporate communications and the job is earned media: coverage tracking, press reporting, a media database and social listening alongside it. The contract is annual with a 12-month minimum, and the Vendr range suggests most teams land between the low five figures and the mid fifty thousands.
Buy Sprinklr if you are an enterprise consolidating customer service, social publishing, marketing and research onto one vendor. Listening then rides on a contract you were signing anyway, and the marginal cost of the Insights module is far smaller than the headline median. If a team is only there for the creative side of Sprinklr Marketing, a standalone tool that can generate on-brand ad creative from a product URL is a much smaller purchase than a module contract.
Buy neither if the job is brand monitoring: alerts when your brand, products, executives or competitors are mentioned, with sentiment and a spike warning. That is the least expensive capability in this market, and paying enterprise platform prices to reach it is the most common way US mid-market teams overspend. EyeOut covers that job from $59 a month billed yearly on a published price list, with monthly billing available and no annual minimum.
What does each contract include for the money?
| Capability | Meltwater | Sprinklr | EyeOut |
|---|---|---|---|
| News and online media monitoring | Core product | Part of listening sources | Every plan |
| Social listening | Selectable capability | Insights module | Every plan |
| Sentiment | Yes | Yes | Every mention |
| Journalist database and pitching | Media relations capability | Not listed | No |
| Customer care and contact center | No | Sprinklr Service suite | No |
| Social publishing | Not on the pricing page | Sprinklr Social suite | No |
| AI visibility tracking | Selectable capability | LLM Insights module | No |
| Published price | No | No | $59, $149, $399 a month billed yearly |
EyeOut appears in that table for one reason: it is what a team buys when the monitoring rows are the only ones it uses. It does not replace the rows below them, and a buyer who needs a contact center or a journalist database should look at the suites.
How do I negotiate a Meltwater or Sprinklr quote?
Ask both vendors for the quote itemized by module or capability, with the seat count and data volume stated. A single bundled figure hides which part of the contract drives the price, and on Sprinklr in particular, the difference between one module and three is the difference between the bottom and the middle of that $28,800 to $482,884 range.
Then use the data. Meltwater buyers on record negotiate around 15% off the opening number. Vendr reports 20% to 35% off initial Sprinklr quotes on multi-year commitments and competitive evaluations, which means a credible second bid is worth real money. Getting a Meltwater quote and a Sprinklr quote at the same time is itself leverage, and so is a documented alternative for the monitoring piece: if you can show the alerting job is covered elsewhere, you can strip it out of the enterprise scope. Our Sprinklr competitors page and the Meltwater alternative comparison list the options with prices where they exist.
Does Meltwater or Sprinklr offer a free trial?
Neither does. Meltwater's pricing FAQ says it does not offer a self-serve free trial and routes prospects to a guided demo. Sprinklr retired its self-serve plans in April 2026 and has no trial page and no pricing page; every product page ends in Request demo. If your team needs to test the data before signing, ask for a time-limited sandbox in writing during the sales cycle and confirm which sources and regions it covers.
Is Meltwater vs Sprinklr the right comparison?
Often it is not. The two show up on the same shortlist because both appear in the listening analyst reports, but the teams that buy them rarely overlap. If a PR team is choosing, the fairer comparison is Meltwater against Cision or Muck Rack; our Meltwater vs Muck Rack pricing post covers that one. If an enterprise CX team is choosing, Sprinklr's real rivals are Salesforce, Khoros and Emplifi. And if a research team is choosing, the consumer intelligence suites such as Brandwatch and Synthesio belong on the list, both also quote only.
