Cision Pricing and Cost: Real Contract Data 2026
Cision has a pricing page and a pricing menu item, and neither carries a dollar figure. Here is what 107 real signed contracts cost according to procurement data, what each Cision product actually is, why buyers average 26 percent off the opening quote, and where Cision sits against Muck Rack, Meltwater and Brandwatch.

Short answer: Cision publishes no price for anything. It has a pricing page and a "CisionOne Pricing" item in its own navigation, but both resolve to a lead capture form with no dollar figure on it, and every other button on the site reads "Request pricing" or "Speak to an expert". The usable number comes from procurement data instead: Vendr, which records real signed contracts, puts the median Cision deal at $12,625 a year across 107 purchases, with a recorded range from $3,150 to $30,368 and buyers negotiating an average of about 26 percent off. That makes Cision one of the cheaper enterprise vendors in this category, and the heaviest discounter in it.
Last updated August 2026. Cision product names, navigation and the absence of any published figure were read from cision.com on August 26, 2026. Contract figures are from Vendr, which aggregates real signed deals. Competitor prices were verified on each vendor's own site in August 2026. No figure in this article was estimated.
Does Cision publish pricing?
No, and it is worth being precise about how thoroughly no, because Cision goes further than most vendors in appearing to. Its main navigation carries a menu item labeled "CisionOne Pricing", which is more than Sprinklr or Brandwatch offer. Follow it and you land on a form. The site's pricing URL behaves the same way: it renders a contact form, a consent notice and a "Trusted by thousands of organizations worldwide" strip, and contains no dollar amount anywhere in the page.
Every other route is explicit about it. The two persistent buttons in the header are "Speak to an expert" and "Request pricing", and there is no self-serve signup, no trial and no published starting rate. If you are trying to size a budget line before you commit to a sales cycle, Cision's own site will not help you do it.
The reason is the same one that applies across this end of the market. Cision is not one product with three tiers, and there is no single list to publish.
What you are actually buying: the Cision product map
Your quote is a function of which of these you take, so it pays to know the map before the first call. These are the products Cision names in its own navigation as of August 2026.
| Product | What it does | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| CisionOne | The core platform: media monitoring, instant insights and reporting, journalist outreach, social listening and management, plus CisionOne AI and AI Visibility | PR and comms teams wanting monitoring and outreach in one place |
| PR Newswire | Press release distribution and placement, investor relations, content production and multimedia | Teams that distribute releases at volume, priced per release as well as by contract |
| Brandwatch | Consumer intelligence and social media management, sold as its own suite | Consumer insights teams doing deep social research |
| Trajaan Search Intelligence | Search intelligence and GenAI monitoring | Teams tracking how the brand appears in search and AI-generated answers |
| Professional Services | Managed analysis and reporting delivered by Cision staff | Teams without an in-house analyst, and a common reason quotes climb |
Two things follow from that map. The first is that Cision and Brandwatch are the same company. Cision announced a $450 million acquisition of Brandwatch in February 2021 and closed it that June, and Cision's own consent copy now names "Cision and its affiliated brands, including Brandwatch, CisionOne, and PR Newswire". Cision itself has been owned by Platinum Equity since a $2.7 billion take-private in January 2020. If your shortlist has Cision and Brandwatch on it to create competitive tension, you are negotiating with one owner through two doors, and the same trick does not work.
The second is that the two brands are priced for different jobs. If you want to know what the research half costs, the Brandwatch social listening tool runs a median $50,000 a year, roughly four times a typical Cision contract, because it is a consumer research platform with a decade of archive rather than a PR workflow tool.
How much does Cision cost?
The best evidence is what companies signed rather than what anyone estimates. Vendr aggregates real contracts, and its Cision sample is one of the larger ones in this category.
| Source | Figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Cision, first party | No published price | Pricing page and "CisionOne Pricing" nav item both resolve to a lead form |
| Vendr, median | $12,625 a year | The midpoint of recorded signed Cision contracts |
| Vendr, low end | $3,150 a year | The smallest recorded deal, consistent with a narrow single-module scope |
| Vendr, high end | $30,368 a year | The largest recorded deal, consistent with CisionOne plus distribution across markets |
| Vendr, sample size | 107 purchases | A substantial sample for a quote-only vendor |
| Vendr, negotiation | About 26% average saving | The highest average discount recorded among the major vendors in this category |
That 26 percent figure is the most actionable number on this page. Across the same dataset Meltwater buyers averaged about 15 percent off and Muck Rack buyers about 17 percent. A vendor whose customers routinely take a quarter off the opening quote is telling you that the opening quote has a quarter of padding in it, and that accepting it is a choice rather than a constraint.
The $3,150 to $30,368 spread is scope, not company size. A single user taking CisionOne monitoring for one brand in one market sits near the bottom. A comms function running monitoring, journalist outreach, professional services and PR Newswire distribution across several markets sits at the top. Ask for the quote itemized by module rather than as one annual total, because the itemized version is what lets you cut scope in the second conversation, and finance will ask for it anyway.
It is also worth watching the renewal rather than just the first year. Multi-year enterprise contracts in this category usually carry an uplift clause, and a five-figure subscription that renews automatically is exactly the kind of line item worth putting a renewal and price-increase alert on, so the renegotiation happens before the invoice posts rather than after.
Is Cision expensive compared with the alternatives?
Among enterprise vendors, no. Cision is at the bottom of the quote-only group. The gap that matters is between the quote-only group as a whole and the vendors that print a number.
| Vendor | Vendr median annual contract | Recorded range | What the money mostly buys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cision | $12,625 | $3,150 to $30,368 | PR workflow, journalist database, monitoring and distribution |
| Muck Rack | $13,000 | $8,000 to $20,860 | Journalist database and pitching, with monitoring attached |
| Meltwater | $25,800 | $5,375 to $56,993 | Media intelligence and social listening on one platform |
| Brandwatch | $50,000 | $19,542 to $81,200 | Consumer research and a deep historical archive. Owned by Cision |
| Sprinklr | $127,490 | $28,800 to $482,884 | An enterprise CXM platform with listening as one suite inside it |
If your requirement genuinely is PR work, Cision is priced sensibly for it. A journalist database that is kept current, a distribution wire with real placement reach, and coverage reporting an executive will read are things the self-serve market does not do, and $12,625 a year is a normal budget line for a comms function that pitches media weekly. Our Muck Rack and Cision comparison covers that half of the decision in detail, and the Cision alternatives page covers the rest of the field.
Where the math turns against it is when monitoring is the only part you use. Plenty of teams buy Cision for the wire and the database, then discover the mention feed is what people actually open every morning. That job, knowing who mentioned you, whether the tone has shifted and whether anything is going wrong right now, is served by vendors that publish a price.
What are cheaper alternatives to Cision?
The split worth understanding is not cheap against expensive. It is monitoring against PR workflow, because no self-serve tool distributes press releases and no wire service alerts you in real time. Every figure below was read from the vendor's own site in August 2026.
| Vendor | Published entry price | Seat model | Refresh interval at that price | Distributes press releases? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EyeOut | $59/mo billed yearly | Seats included on every plan | Real time on every plan | No |
| Awario | $29/mo billed yearly | Single seat on Starter | Not published anywhere | No |
| Mentionlytics | $49/mo billed yearly | 2 users on Basic | Every 12 hours, continuous from $299 | No |
| BrandMentions | $79/mo billed yearly | 1 user on Starter | Daily at entry, real time from $399 | No |
| Determ | EUR 99/mo | Unlimited users | States real-time updates on every tier | No |
| Brand24 | $199/mo billed yearly | Unlimited users from Team upward | Every 12 hours on Individual, real time from $399 | No |
| Cision | None published. Vendr median $12,625/yr | Not published | Not published | Yes, via PR Newswire |
The column most buyers skip is the refresh interval, and it decides more than the monthly rate does. A tool that collects every 12 hours is not a crisis tool whatever its marketing says, and several of the cheapest options batch at entry level while reserving real-time collection for a tier three or four times the price. Get the number in writing before you compare monthly rates, because a $49 batched plan and a $59 real-time plan are not competing for the same job.
The second column that matters is the seat model. Monitoring is the function most likely to be needed occasionally by people who are not comms staff: a founder during a launch, a support lead when complaints cluster, a product manager checking reaction to a release. Per-seat pricing turns each of those logins into a line item, so access gets rationed to two or three people and the ones who most need the early warning do not have one.
Frequently asked questions about Cision pricing
How much does Cision cost per year?
Cision publishes no figure. Vendr, which records real signed contracts, reports a median of $12,625 a year across 107 purchases, with a range from $3,150 to $30,368. Where you land depends on which modules you take, how many markets you cover, whether professional services are included and whether PR Newswire distribution is on the same contract.
Does Cision have a free trial?
No. There is no self-serve signup or trial anywhere on cision.com, and both persistent calls to action are "Speak to an expert" and "Request pricing". Evaluating Cision means booking a demo and going through a scoping conversation, so budget several weeks before you have a number you can take to finance.
How much does PR Newswire cost?
Cision does not publish rates for it either. PR Newswire distribution is typically priced per release, with the cost driven by word count, the geographic and industry circuits you select, and whether you add multimedia. It is often quoted separately from a CisionOne subscription, which is one reason total Cision spend varies so widely between similar-sized companies.
Can you negotiate Cision pricing?
Yes, and the data says you should push harder here than with most vendors. Vendr records an average saving of about 26 percent on Cision contracts, the highest among the major vendors in this category and well above Meltwater at roughly 15 percent. The levers that work are dropping modules you will not use, separating the multi-year rate from the single-year rate, and fixing the renewal uplift in the initial contract.
Is Cision the same company as Brandwatch?
Yes. Cision acquired Brandwatch for $450 million in a deal announced in February 2021 and closed on June 1, 2021, and Cision's own site names Brandwatch among its affiliated brands. Cision has itself been owned by the private equity firm Platinum Equity since January 2020. Shortlisting both to create competitive tension puts one owner on both sides of the table.
Is Cision worth it for a small team?
It depends entirely on whether you pitch journalists. If your team runs real media relations, needs a maintained press database and distributes releases, Cision is built for that and priced reasonably against Meltwater and Brandwatch. If what you actually need is to know what is being said about your brand across web, news, social, forums, podcasts and review sites, that is answered by a monitoring tool with a published price and no procurement cycle.
If you want the number before the sales call rather than after it, EyeOut publishes its pricing: $59 a month billed yearly on Starter, $149 on Growth and $399 on Pro, with seats included on every plan and real-time collection with AI sentiment and graded crisis alerts. It does not distribute press releases and it does not maintain a journalist database, which is the honest boundary between it and Cision. For the wider picture, our social listening pricing comparison puts the whole category on one table.
