Short answer: a paid Reddit keyword alert tool costs between $9.99 and about $130 a month for a small team. F5Bot Silver ($9.99) is the cheapest paid plan, Redmonitor, ForumScout and Redreach all start at $19, Syften at $29.95, and Linkeddit at $49. The price mostly buys three things: how many keywords you can track, how fast the alert arrives, and whether it reaches Slack or a webhook. If you also need sentiment and news coverage next to Reddit, you are shopping for brand monitoring, which EyeOut sells from $59 a month billed yearly.

Every price, limit and scan interval below was read from each vendor's own pricing page in September 2026. Where a vendor does not print a figure, we say so instead of estimating one.

GummySearch is missing from this table on purpose. It closed on November 30, 2025, stopped taking new signups, and its Starter plan at $29 was the one that carried keyword tracking. If you are replacing it, our GummySearch alternative page covers what each successor does and does not replace.

How much does a Reddit keyword alert tool cost?

For one person tracking a product name and a couple of competitors, expect $10 to $30 a month. F5Bot Silver at $9.99 is the floor for a paid, business-use plan, since its free tier is labeled personal use only. Redmonitor, ForumScout and Redreach sit at $19, and Syften's Entry plan is $29.95.

For a growth or marketing team that wants Slack, more keywords and faster alerts, the realistic band is $49 to $130 a month: F5Bot Gold at $49.99, Syften Standard at $49.95, ForumScout Pro at $49, Redmonitor Growth at $49, Linkeddit Pro at $49, and ForumScout Ultra at $129. Webhooks and API access usually push you one tier higher than you expect, which is the line item worth checking before you commit.

What do you actually pay more for?

Almost every vendor meters the same three things, just under different names.

  • How many things you can watch. F5Bot and ForumScout count keywords. Syften counts filters, which can hold several terms. Redmonitor counts "listeners" and then separately charges one credit per mention found, so a noisy keyword can burn a month of credits. Linkeddit counts monitors.
  • How fast you hear about it. Syften states a Reddit target delay under one minute on every plan. F5Bot is up to two hours on Free, up to five minutes on Silver and instant from Gold. ForumScout scans every 6 hours on Starter, every 3 hours on Pro and hourly on Ultra. Redreach surfaces lead opportunities weekly on Startup and daily from Growth.
  • Where the alert lands. Email is universal. Slack starts at F5Bot Gold, Syften Standard and Redreach Professional. ForumScout includes webhooks and Google Sheets on every plan, which is unusually generous. F5Bot's API and webhooks start at Platinum, $214.99.

Which Reddit keyword alert tool is cheapest?

F5Bot Silver is the cheapest paid Reddit keyword alert plan at $9.99 a month, or $109 a year. It covers 20 keywords across Reddit, Hacker News and Lobsters with alerts arriving within about five minutes, full post text and keyword filtering. The catch is delivery: everything arrives by email until Gold, and there is no sentiment scoring on any tier.

If you want webhooks at the lowest price, ForumScout Starter at $19 a month is the better buy, since it includes webhooks and unlimited seats from the entry plan, although it only scans every 6 hours. Our F5Bot vs Syften pricing breakdown goes tier by tier on the two most common picks, and the F5Bot pricing page lists every F5Bot limit in one table.

Keyword alerts, lead generation, or brand monitoring?

These tools look alike in a screenshot and are built for different jobs. Picking the wrong category is the most expensive mistake here, more than picking the wrong tier.

Keyword alert tools (F5Bot, Syften, Redmonitor) answer one question: did someone just post this word? They are fast and cheap, and they leave judgment to you.

Reddit lead-generation tools (Redreach, Linkeddit, and ForumScout's lead features) try to find people asking for a product like yours, then help you reply. Redreach adds auto DMs, with 30 a day on its $19 plan and 500 on the $79 plan. Linkeddit bundles a content writer, a Reddit post calendar and competitor reports. Before you pay for automated replies or DMs, read the rules of the subreddits you care about, because many moderators remove promotional replies and ban accounts that send them.

Brand monitoring tools answer a different question: how is the conversation about us going, and is anything turning bad? That needs sentiment on each mention, news coverage in the same feed, and an alert when volume jumps against a baseline rather than on every match. A Reddit monitoring tool built for reputation will send fewer alerts than a keyword pinger, and each one will matter more.

What is the best Reddit keyword alert tool?

The best Reddit keyword alert tool depends on who reads the alert. For a solo founder, F5Bot Silver at $9.99 is enough. For developer-tool companies that need Stack Exchange, GitHub and Hacker News too, Syften Standard at $49.95 has the widest community list. For sales-led teams hunting buying-intent threads, Redreach or Linkeddit. For marketing and comms teams watching reputation, a brand monitoring tool.

  • Solo founder watching a product name: F5Bot Silver, $9.99.
  • Team that wants webhooks without paying for a top tier: ForumScout Starter, $19, if a 6-hour scan is acceptable.
  • Developer-tools company: Syften Standard, $49.95, for the community list and Slack.
  • Sales team working Reddit threads daily: Redreach Growth at $39 or Linkeddit Pro at $49.
  • Brand, comms or customer team watching sentiment: EyeOut Growth, $149 billed yearly, for the crisis radar and Slack.

Developer-tools companies often find that the first sign of an outage is a Reddit or Hacker News thread asking whether the product is down. A keyword alert on "is [product] down" is a useful backstop, but if that thread is how your team learns about outages, the real fix sits upstream in an incident management tool that pages the on-call engineer before customers start posting.

Does Reddit have built-in keyword alerts?

No. Reddit lets you follow users, get notified about replies to your own posts and comments, and receive community recommendations, but it does not offer an alert when any post or comment site-wide mentions a word you choose. That gap is the whole reason third-party keyword alert tools exist. Saved searches in the app still require you to open them and check by hand.

Can a Reddit alert tool tell positive from negative mentions?

Most cannot. F5Bot, Syften and Redmonitor filter for relevance, some with AI filters you configure by prompt, but they do not score how people feel about your brand. ForumScout adds sentiment graphs from its $49 Pro plan and emotion analysis on Ultra at $129. EyeOut scores sentiment toward the tracked brand on every mention on every plan, which is a different measure from the overall mood of a post: "we left X for EyeOut" is negative for X and positive for EyeOut.

Where EyeOut fits, and where it does not

EyeOut is brand monitoring, not a reply or lead-generation tool. It scans Reddit, Google News and Mastodon on every plan, and Hacker News, Lemmy and Apple Podcasts episode titles and descriptions from the Growth plan, every 30 minutes. Each mention gets a sentiment score, negative mentions trigger an email alert, and a daily digest groups the rest into themes. From Growth, the crisis radar compares each keyword's last 24 hours with its own 7-day average and alerts you when a keyword breaks from its normal pattern, and Slack alerts and share of voice against three competitors come with it.

Growth$149/mo$189/mo1050,0003
Pro$399/mo$499/mo30250,00010

Be clear about what it is not. EyeOut does not watch X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn or review sites, it is not real time, it does not backfill mentions from before you start a keyword, and it does not draft replies or send DMs. If sub-minute Reddit alerts or reply automation are the job, Syften or Redreach are better buys. If you want to know when the conversation about your brand turns, across Reddit and the news together, see EyeOut plans or read how the forum monitoring side covers Hacker News and Lemmy.

Questions to ask before you pay

  • How many separate phrases will we track once misspellings and competitor names are counted?
  • Is a mention-based credit meter going to run out on our noisiest keyword?
  • Do we reply within minutes, or read a summary once a day?
  • On which plan do Slack, webhooks and the API actually start?
  • Do we need to know whether the talk is positive or negative, or only that it exists?
  • Do our buyers talk anywhere besides Reddit, such as Hacker News, the news, or podcasts?
